Mindful Divergence : An Art for Digital Age

Dinner at Old School was quite a subtle experience. Amritha and myself spend our late evening immersed in conversations about various daily encounters. Days have become fuming facades of lives. Many people are getting crushed in the fast lanes of digital livelihood. Life has become quite a ephemeral experience. In this juncture, more than ever we should learn the art of mindful divergence – an art to diverge from digital facades and information overload. People profess attention economy. I must say it’s an illusion in our times. Hence let’s learn mindful Divergence in our own terms. In actuality, Mindful Divergence will guide us to creative conjugations and will eventually lead us to Mindful Convergence.

Prayaana Labs – A Women Technology Leadership Collective

This week I was in Kochi for the launch of Prayanaa Labs – a Social Innovation Initiative where we are working alongside Fortune Factory. Fortune Factory is a company run by Chandra Vadhana an inspirational women leader. We are venturing into this initiative with the firm conviction that woman technology leaders will emerge in Kerala only if we provide a congenial ecosystem. We have no dearth for women technocrats and entrepreneurs in Kerala. However the key issue is that they are not coming together in a collective.

Infopark CEO Mr. Hrishikesh Nair has inaugurated the Prayaana Labs website digitally. NASSCOM Kerala Leader Mr. Arun Nair was also present in this occasion. He has extended all the support from NASSCOM for this initiative.

Our Global Head of Services and Solutions, Mr.Sunil Balakrishnan has kindly graced this occasion with his presidential address in this function. It was an inspiring moment to listen from a Technology leader who has nurtured three generation of technocrats within our organisation. Sunil spoke about the ecosystem in Kerala and shared his pragmatic insights on the possibilities. He had recommended that we should make this a space for women Technology professionals to continue their learning and to acquire niche skills required for the Digital Age.

I got an opportunity to talk about the need for an ecosystem for nurturing woman leaders. Woman leaders exhibit better tenacity and bandwidth and stress management skills at topmost levels. In the recent times woman technology leaders are becoming the champions of maker movement and DIY initiatives.

It is also interesting to note that even the paradigms of Design Thinking is transitioning from Industrial Design to Emotive Design which will be quite resonating with the cognitive perspectives of womanhood. It is noted by various neuroscience experts that women folks tend to use limbic brain more that men.

Prayaana Labs is an initiative where we will provide all the necessary knowledge, innovation toolkits, mentoring and industry awareness so that girl students can ideate together with industry leaders and march towards a Digital Future with creative confidence. A team of woman entrepreneurs and women technology leaders have come forward to mentor and guide these students in Prayaana Labs. These leaders participated in a panel discussion during the launch event. It was a great experience listening to their deep and diverse perspectives on society, technology, entrepreneurship and professional life.

How to drift in time ?

In this late night hours on a Saturday, after watching a few documentaries on Vimeo, I feel that we are learning the art of drifting in time. Time is a tyrant ! I felt this a few years ago. At this moment, time is more forceful and formless and ephemeral and is tempting all of us to drift with its qualms. I may or may not exist in space, yet I always drift in time. Space is just a co-existence, I feel at this moment. A few years ago, I felt there is only space. In this age of digital technology, we may feel the world is flat. This illusion makes us feel that there is no time and only space. However, now I feel space is just a temporal coexistence for a few hundred years. It is a manifestation of energy through matter and material representations. Between and Beyond, time exist. Hence we need to learn the art of drifting time.

Quantum Computing is Coming of Age !

Write ups about Quantum Computing is creating ripples in and around our technology communities for sometime now. Every week we are hearing that research divisions in Universities and leading Technology giants are building quantum computers in search of ‘Quantum Supremacy’. While this race is on the course, I must say that this trend is defining a major turn around for the upcoming generations. Data Structures will diffuse into thousands of energy structures such as the combinations of entropy, noise, mechanics, diffusion, reflection, interpolation, convergence, radiance, fractals. etc. Information will become isomorphic to experiences and hence it will be emergence of digital consciousness in its polymorphic manifestations.

The world is gradually transitioning from information society towards natural society through the sands of time. It may take a while since we are in the midst of another journey. We are consciously cultivating a machine learning driven syntellectic age of converging intelligence categories. Cognitive Informatics experts were critical about the undue importance given to artificial intelligence since the advent of the hype around AI and Deep learning. Pursuit for machine intelligence and the synthesis of human intelligence with artificial intelligence and machine consciousness has taken us into the warps of convoluted theories.

Quantum Computing is taking us back to ground zero. Nature has quite a lot of bewildering possibilities and permutations left in its array of knowledge. From weather patterns to image structures, quantum computers can make our measurements and experiences more precise and contemplative. We have to get back to our physical laboratories and start experimenting with fertile materials and their infinite properties and behaviors. This article is just a brief post to mention that physical world is still far more diverse and versatile ground for computational experiments.
